analytical essay

An analytical essay is a short piece of writing, in which the author deals with a specific topic; the argument may be based on the authors’ personal experience, outside sources or a combination of the two depending on the topic and the type of an essay. Possible topics for essays vary endlessly from dreams to science and to fine art. They can be written as an answer to a question or a comment on a statement, they can also be purely narrative but all essays tend to be written in prose and be no-longer than 5000 words.

In order to write a good essay it is very important to understand the exact purpose of it. If you are writing an argumentative essay it is vital that your argument is well structured, with a clear and catching introduction, which should summarize what you are going to continue to discuss in the essay. As many of you may know the most important part of the introduction is the thesis statement, though it is definitely one of the hardest parts of the essay since you have to capture the entire main idea of the essay in one sentence, which has to be clear and read well.

Once you have completed the introduction you can go onto to the body of the essay, which will consist of several paragraphs, the amount of paragraphs depends on the number of points that you would like to make. Each paragraph should consist of one idea point and evidence that backs that point up, evidence would usually be either an event or a statement made by a credible person that backs up your point. In order to make your essay pleasant to read and effective it is imperative that not only the essay as a whole is well structured, but also that each paragraph and even sentence is well thought through and structured in way that makes the point of it transparent to the reader.

At the end of an comes last but not least important part the conclusion. It is similar to the introduction. Only the conclusion should be based on the “findings” that have been made in the essay and rather than simply stating the facts it should also point your opinion on the matter, which you have come to after examining all points in the essay. Since the conclusion makes the final impression on the reader it has to be logically arranged and mingled to leave the audience astounded.
